Mr D. I. Evans, the father of Mr Elfed Evans, started the business in 1946 as D. I. Evans & Sons, specialising in Agricultural Contracting and Plant Hire.
In 1983 upon the retirement of Mr D. I. Evans a partnership was formed between Mr Elfed Evans and his wife Mrs Janet Evans. The partnership continued to trade under the title of D. I. Evans & Sons until last year, when a decision was made to become a limited company trading as D. I. Evans Cyf.

Over the years the business has continued to develop and change in response to current needs and demands.
The service of agricultural contracting is now minimal due to decrease in demand, and diversification into waste disposal that at present is the growing part of the business.

The premises at Beulah is also a Transfer Station for biodegradable waste with full planning permission and licensed by the Environment Agency. The company also manages two Civic Amenity Sites for Ceredigion County Council and the emphasis at all these sites is on recycling as much waste as possible. With the increasing demand for recycling, the directors of D. I. Evans Cyf feel that this is the way forward for the prosperity of the business.
The aim is to provide an efficient service to all customers within a friendly Welsh family atmosphere. The Health and Safety of our employees, customers and the public is always of utmost importance to us and all necessary steps are taken to ensure this.
